FAQs
If you can't find an answer to your question in the FAQs below, please contact us.
-
I've just noticed my delivery address is wrong, can you help?"We will try! Please contact us immediately and if your order hasn't been dispatched, we can change the address for you. Unfortunately if your order has already been dispatched, there won't be anything we can do.
-
I'd like to order a cake box for a specific day, is that possible?"As we are only a small company, we only bake across Tuesday/Wednesday. This means that unfortunately we don't have capability to accept pre-orders (except for large orders/events) for a specific day. All orders that are received by 4pm on a Monday will be baked that week and posted out on a Wednesday - meaning you should receive them by Friday.
-
I want to order multiple cake boxes, how much will I pay for delivery?"This depends on how many boxes you order and whether you want all the boxes to go to the same address. If you want the boxes to go to different addresses, then a separate order will need to be submitted for each address and you will need to pay delivery on each order. If you want to order multiple boxes for the same address, then we can include up to 2 boxes per delivery charge. This means if you order 2 boxes and choose the First Class postage option, you will just pay one delivery charge. If you order 3 or 4 boxes, then you will need to pay 2 delivery charges as it will need to go as 2 packages. This is due to the weight restriction per package. The delivery charges will be calculated before you checkout, so you will be able to view how much the delivery charge is before you decide to buy.
-
Can I place a single order with multiple addresses?Sorry, at the moment we can only manage a single delivery address per order. If you'd like boxes to go to a number of addresses, you will need to place multiple orders.
-
How much do you charge for delivery? We currently offer delivery through Royal Mail: First Class delivery (which should arrive in 1-2 days Mon to Sat) which is £4.45 We keep our prices fair and only charge the prices that we pay Royal Mail, so we do not over-charge for delivery. However, if you live in Leeds, if you are within 8km of LS16 then local delivery is available for £1. This is automatically calculated based on your delivery postcode. *Also, see the FAQ above for "I want to order multiple cake boxes, how much will I pay for delivery" for how the delivery charges are calculated for multiple boxes.
-
Where do you deliver to?Our cakes can be delivered to any address in the UK. We currently use Royal Mail for all of our deliveries. We don't currently offer any option to deliver outside of the UK.
-
Do you post outside the UK?No. Unfortunately (at the current time at least!) we only post within the UK.
-
How are the cakes packaged? The cakes are wrapped in greaseproof paper, and then packed securely into a box using shredded cardboard. The box is then sealed inside a compostable courier bag to make it waterproof.
-
Do your boxes fit through my letterbox? Our boxes are sized 27cm x 17cm x 5 cm - so should fit through most letterboxes. Please note, if you order more than one box, then the package will be too big to be posted through a letterbox.
-
What happens if I'm (or the recipient is out) when the cake box is delivered? If you have ordered a single cake box, and you/the recipient is out then the cake box should fit through the letterbox. If it doesn't fit (e.g. you have a box/cage behind the letterbox, or you have ordered multiple cake boxes), then the postman/woman may attempt to leave with a neighbour, otherwise they will leave a card for the package to be collected by the recipient the following day. If you are ordering for somebody else (even though you may want it to be a surprise) we recommend you inform them that they may be receiving a parcel on Thursday/Friday so they can ensure they are in.
-
I'm ordering a box as a gift for somebody, can I include a message in the box?"Yes you can. When you are on the My Cart page (after selecting the cart icon) there is an option to 'Add a personalised message'. Select this link and write your message in the text box that appears. This message will then be handwritten onto a card that is included in the box. We do ask you keep your message to a maximum of 20 words, which helps ensure we can fit your message onto the card! We just hope that you don't wish to use supercalifragilisticexpialidocious 20 times...
-
Why do you have no stock for sale?We are only a small company and so have limited capacity. Every cake is freshly handmade (we have no factory or production line!). What that does mean is that we can make sure that the cakes we make are of the highest quality. Please bear with us and check back later when we have re-stocked.
-
The cake I wanted to order isn't available / is out of stock!Although we have a wide range of cakes and treats that we can make, as we are only a small company, we are not able (at the moment) to have all variety of cakes available all of the time due to availability of ingredients and our baking capacity. If there is a particular variety of cake that you would like, please contact us and we will always do our best to add it to our menu.
-
I've received a box of your delicious cakes, but I don't know who it's from?"We offer the option of including a personalised message with each order. Check the card that was included in the box which may have a personalised message for you!
-
I think my order is wrong, can you sort it out?"Of course! Please contact us and we will get in touch with you as soon as we can. Please take a photo of what you have in your box. All of our cakes are made, wrapped and packed by our small team and although we work hard to ensure everything is perfect, mistakes can happen.
-
I'm not satisfied with my order, can you please address this?"In the unlikely event you are not fully satisfied with your order, please contact us and we will be in touch as soon as possible. Replacements and refunds will be handled on a case by case basis.
-
How do I know what cakes are in my box?If you were lucky enough to receive a cake box as a gift, then you can always contact the person who placed the order to confirm what the cake box contains. If you placed the order, but have forgotten which cake box you ordered, then you will have received an email confirming your order. Please check your Junk Mail folder, if you cannot find it in your inbox. If all else fails, then please contact us and we will be able to confirm your order.
-
Can you cater for large corporate orders?Yes we can! Please contact us and we will get in touch as soon as possible to understand what you need.
-
Can you provide your cakes for my wedding/event/party?Yes we can! Please contact us and we'll be in touch as soon as possible to discuss what you need!
-
I placed my order on Tuesday, why do I have to wait over a week to receive my cakes?"Unfortunately we don't have capacity to bake every day, so we only currently bake to order on a Tuesday/Wednesday. We are a small company so work with relatively small levels of ingredients, which we source based on orders to make sure what we use is fresh. This means we have to have a cut off point for accepting orders each week, and currently that is 5pm on a Monday. This means that all orders received after this point (e.g. on Tuesday) won't be picked up until the following week.
-
Do you make gluten free or vegan cakes?Unfortunately we don't yet make gluten free or vegan cakes, but this is something we wish to rectify. Please check back with us!
-
What ingredients do you use for your cakes? We use only the best quality ingredients, including free range eggs and Belgian chocolate. Select a product to see the ingredient and allergen list for each cake.
-
What allergens are in your cakes? If you select any of the products on the 'Buy Cakes' page, you can see the full list of allergens. Please be mindful that our kitchen does regularly use nuts, soya, milk and eggs, so even if your cake doesn't contain one of these ingredients, there may be trace elements.
-
Where do you show what allergens may be present? If you click on any of our cake boxes on the 'Choose my Cake Box' page, then all of the ingredients and allergens are displayed. Also, we include a sticker on the cake box itself which lists the allergens that are present in that cake box.
-
How long do your cakes last?Your cakes will be posted first class with Royal Mail on a Wednesday before 5pm, so could be with you on Thursday, but should be with you by Friday (the obvious caveat to this is around the Christmas period). Although it does vary slightly depending on the type of cake, your cakes should last 5-7 days once received if stored correctly - although important to note this is 'best before' advice rather than a 'use by' recommendation. In terms of storage, other than Rocky Road and Tiffin which are chocolate based and are best stored in the fridge, the cakes are best stored at room temperature in an air tight container.
-
What size are your cakes? All of our cakes are cut into 3 x 3 inch squares: Although every effort is made to keep the cake sizes consistent, as the cakes are hand cut. these measurements are just approximate. The only exception are the cookies which are obviously round! All cookies are made with 80g of dough so will have a diameter of approx 4 inches. Again, as they are hand made, there will be slight variations in their size, but all are made with the same amount of dough.
